Sunday, June 9th at 6 PM: Witness Trees North By Northeast Tour Featuring Tom Favreau at The Newport Protective Club, 596 Thames St, Newport, RI 02840
What a cool venue! Founded in 1904, this storied club was a place for Newport Folk & Jazz & Blues musicians to hang out at and sometimes play! There is video showing venerable performers like Howlin' Wolf and Skip James gracing their stage. Well, maybe Tom and I are not so venerable, but we're willin'! Tom Favreau is a good friend and fave co-writer of mine. He put this show together and I'm going to help him deliver! We'll do two sets beginning at 6 pm. Internationally acclaimed Songwriter/Troubadour David G Smith (davidgsmithmusic.com) is an acoustic solo performer with a lyric intensive style featuring guitars, a resonator, music & voice that range from dirt funk to intimate. Think James Taylor meets Townes Van Zant. His music is a blend of Folk, Americana, Country & Blues.
