Description du concert
Jess Vincent and Katie Whitehouse pair up to showcase latest albums, Lions Den and Drawing Lines. The evening promises a captivating mix of solo, song swaps, and mutual accompaniment Jess Vincent is a highly original artist in the folk/indie/Americana acoustic scene. Lions Den was recorded in her home studio in Bulgaria, where she moved to in 2017. The album brings with it a thread of the people, stories, colours, flavours and instruments from her new life there as well as Jess's trademark subtle arrangements on guitar, baritone uke, banjo, harmonium and uniquely soaring vocal. Jess will also be playing old favourites from her previous three albums. “Jess Vincent doesn’t just Shine, she positively glows” (Mike Davies for folking.com). “..one of the brightest stars out there… Vincent’s crystal-clear vocals sending shivers down the spine.” (Malcolm Carter, PennyBlack Music). "Soulful, strong and utterly engrossing" (Mick Tems, Folk Wales). "uniquely and obliquely original" (Rock'n'Reel R2). “… accessible, tuneful folksiness, with dashes of Americana of the light-textured Appalachian variety” (Folk n Roots). Katie Whitehouse has been involved in music as long as she can remember - whether as a choir leader, composer and arranger, a poet and songwriter or as a successful agent for other rising and prominent folk stars. Finally, she has taken the time to pen her beautiful debut album Drawing Lines. Her writing is deeply felt and sincere and her debut album Drawing Lines is inspired by personal life experience, but with a universality that draws everyone in. Delicately arranged and yet exceptionally powerful - Katie's voice gently weaves its way around you, and into your heart. “….evokes thoughts of Judie Tzuke” (Mike Davies for folking.com). “This album has its fair share of moody storm clouds – the odd brisk shower. But also dazzling rays of sunshine. Perfect conditions for rainbows.” (Arts Culture Mag). “Katie Whitehouse understands songs, and she understands singing, and does both beautifully” (Reg Meuross). “Lovely songs beautifully performed” (Boo Hewerdine).

Jess is now touring with her brand new album Seesaw Dreams. Here is a link to 3 brand new tracks from Seesaw Dreams http://snd.sc/1aEo9Ro AND here is a really fun link to Jess "in the caravan" at Trowbridge Festival this year http://youtu.be/kfdZ6zYxpqU with Reg Meuross, Marcel Rose and the amazing Spooky Men Chorale. She is available solo or as a duo with Marcel Rose, or as the Jess Vincent Trio with Marcel plus Reg Meuross depending on availability and budget. Following hot on the tail of her highly acclaimed debut album Timeframe, Jess describes Seesaw Dreams as the truest reflection to date of her real self. She delivers this stunning collection of her songs with subtle arrangements and a maturity that belies her youth, yet allows her vulnerability to shine through. Jess’s unique and gorgeous voice has been compared to Kate Bush, Iris Dement, Dolly Parton and Maria Muldaur - but is so distinctive that it could only be JESS VINCENT.
