Guitarist, singer, oud player, composer and producer Anis Benhallak plays a sophisticated mix of contemporary jazz, rock and pop music inspired by North African and Middle Eastern traditions. Born in Algeria, Anis grew up in a multicultural environment, self-taught, he started on guitar at the age of 9 inspired by Jimi Hendrix, Pat Metheny and Jeff Beck and moved to the oud and gnawa percussions. In 2001 at the age of 19, he moved to France, where he played with a number of international groups (Seun Kuti, Leny Kravitz, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Karim Ziad, Les Freres Smith...), before officially joining the famous Nigerian afrobeat group Egyt 80 created by Fela Kuti . He released his first album Paradoxical Project 2014 (Bonsai /Sony Music) displaying various genres from jazz to ethnic fusion . In 2015, he formed his own label, Miz'art Production, and recorded Apes Theater 2018, followed by The Clown Theory 2022 in which he expressed him self as a singer. In 2023 he recorded Romanian Folk Dances 2.0 in tribute to Bela Bartok
