After having the immense pleasure of playing alongside one another for a number of years in a variety of musical contexts, we had become increasingly keen for us to come together and make a recording of our own tunes with some of our favourite musician friends.
We were lucky enough to record at the legendary Wincraft studios (Steve Winwood’s private recording studio), in Gloucestershire. It’s a beautiful location, set in west England’s picturesque countryside and proved to be an inspiring environment for us to make this record.
We chatted about our desire to record some tracks in the latin-jazz idiom. The three of us shared a very similar story and individually had spent many of our formative years as professional musicians, playing in a plethora of great salsa, boogaloo and merengue bands, both in the UK and around the world.
We penned a few tracks each. Some, were written, or at least conceived many weeks prior to the recording dates. Others were written during breaks in recording, eating, sleeping - and drinking! We hope you enjoy this album as much as we enjoyed making it.
