Super concert in the end. A lot of hate online, not sure why. I have not had the pleasure of seeing the original lineup but was a bit startled to see Gramps with a bunch of junior uni students. Turns out Gramps still shreds (literally he is mostly making noise with occasional chords) and the new kids on the block snarl, play rolling thunder bass and thunderous drums. The interesting part is how much they now own the material. It's not a cover band, they are redoing the material inside out. Can you imagine a 10 minute 'slip it in' with a 20 year old woman snarling it? Fun bass led circle dance at one point.
It might be time to get the drummer some better gear? Lots of potential held back by a rather basic drum kit.
Gregg Ginn plays really odd. Clearly he masters his stuff, and this is where BF stands out. It's not two or three cords and everything hurled out. It's noise guitar, detuned and fuzzy, with occasional lapses into tunes to see it all together. And hurled out with venom. The guy looks like he needs a nap but give him a guitar and off he goes
Group is tight, they know the material and it's a bit like seeing a reincarnation of BF into something new and interesting. I would see them again for the live playing.
