Biographie de Shmoo

From the silk roads of yore to the modern industrial shipping lanes on the high seas, Shmoo's sound is universal sonic commerce for the contemporary ear lobe.

Cutting his teeth on leathery vinyl records: the product of serial crate digging, Shmoo was born a student of priceless works of art from Sasha, Digweed, Emerson, and Van Gogh. The progeny of driven immigrants, he strives to connect the dots through the annals of House and Techno history to his interest in modern day depth and texture. From his reverence for the past to his residency on the cutting edge, Shmoo offers a tour de force of what true House Heads desire.

Known for his successful You Are Here series with Derrick Carter at Chicago's legendary Spybar as well as his groundbreaking studio work with Gramaphone's Garrett David, Shmoo launched the leading-edge SHFFT multimedia project as a way to stay active during the global club shutdown. He has formerly held residencies at Berlin Nightclub, Copa Lounge, East Room, Electric Hotel, Estate, and the infamous Tanto’s.

Shmoo’s debut EP on the seminal Love Notes From Brooklyn label has sold out at record stores around the world and has received support from Honey Dijon on BBC Radio 1. He has also been invited as a featured guest on DJ Heather's CHI FI SHOW Twitch live stream.

Shmoo is one of only six DJs recently recognized by the City of Chicago's Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events for artistic excellence in House music production, promotion, and performance, alongside DJ Lady D, Steve Miggedy Maestro, and Duane Powell. Renowned House music publication 5 Magazine has named Shmoo 'one of the best people working on the scene in Chicago right now' and a 'hometown hero.'

Shmoo's remix of Mack Blagic by Groovy Drew on Jason Merle's 4E&A imprint has received support from Carl Cox among others. His release Split Up The Get Go, also on 4E&A, has reached number 2 on Beatport's After Hour Essentials: Deep House chart and number 6 on their Best New Deep House chart.
