Biographie de TIFFY

Asian-American artist TIFFY just released her debut full length album 'So Serious' in November 2023. Tiffany Sammy’s new collection is a stirring coming-of-age narrative outlining the tumultuous path through social media, social disconnection, heartbreak and the drive for achievement. Her hook-loaded confessional songwriting recalls the dusky, kaleidoscopic musical approach of indie rock contemporaries Speedy Ortiz and Jay Som with irresistible melodies that harken to peak-era Weezer. The lushly slack “Don’t Take It Personally” was inspired by an experience with a friend growing distant during lockdown, a heavenly church organ breakdown adding to the song’s confessional feel. The massively anthemic “In Jest” is built around a chewy riff and the act of taking the piss without getting too hurt about it, while the serpentine shoegaze of “Vying” is accompanied by Sammy’s musings about the digital age’s attention economy. Then there’s the winsome punk-pop of “Social Sliding,” which captures the generational yearning to detach from the social ladders we all continue to climb in vain.

Currently Boston-based, Sammy grew up in California and fell in love with the crunchy and catchy rock that dominated ‘90s radio airplay. She played countless shows establishing her as a formidable live presence in the Boston and New England music scenes over the past 5 years, opening for national acts such as Speedy Ortiz and others, and playing venues to festivals such as Thing in the Spring Music & Arts Festival in Peterborough, NH, Foreside Music Festival in Kittery, ME, ArtBeat in Somerville, MA, The Town & City Festival in Lowell, MA and Asian Glow: Unapologetic Diaspora, a cultural event celebrating AAPI's in Boston.

"tender indie rock with pillowy synths and heavenly vocals" - bandcamp

"...another step forward for the SoCal-born singer-songwriter, mixing her catchiest melodies yet with some surf-inflected guitars and intentionally off-balance guitars.” FADER

"funk-laden dream-pop" Flood

"...melds dewy dream pop with dazed lo-fi punk " Paste Magazine

"...an inspired marriage of jagged alt-rock and more polished pop." Rosy Overdrive

"..the album’s sound palette: power pop chord progressions, explosive guitar lines, and booming percussion that elevates Sammy’s heartfelt harmonies." Merry Go Round Magazine
