Biographie de Matthew James

Born with a smoking hot cup of coffee in one hand and a pack of Pall Malls in the other, Matthew James hails from all over Michigan. He has been howling in microphones since 2000 and recording hand made lo-fi junk since 2006 with the formation of The Back Home in Michigan Band. They produced 3 works with varying members, lived in many different houses and struggled to keep socks on their feet. Finally coming full circle and ending up back in the trailer park, where they spent many a night pondering their existence with a bottle of Maker's and a handful of Count Basie records. After months of no sleep, two coffee makers and box full of left behind ladies garments the Back Home in Michigan Band broke.....Fiddles were involved, non hurt. The trailer park grew small and wasn't big enough for Matthew James so he joined a gang of fools by the name of Rickett Pass. He recorded, played on and produced "One Way Road" & "My Mistake". After months of playing in smokey bars around Downriver and Detroit proper they set sail across the country. Bad decisions and debauchery followed them from town to town. They ran out of coffee somewhere in South Carolina so Matthew James split and headed for Des Moines, Iowa. He has taken up residence here in Iowa to complete his fourth piece of work entitled "Impromptu Musicals for the Skeptic (Bad Home)". Where Sump Pump Records has been nice enough to allow him to call their humble business home. "As we say farewell to the fallen, we raise our glasses to the unknown ahead." Like throwing a whiskey bottle set a flame through an expensive glass window on repeat. Music.
