Running Times: Gates - 3:00pm Start - 3:45pm Finish - 10:00pm Hot off the announcement of their extremely limited, vinyl collector's set, Hoodoo Gurus have today announced a national tour celebrating 40 years since they released Stoneage Romeos. Originally released in March 1984 (!), Stoneage Romeos, was the Gurus' debut album and featured the hits Leilani, Tojo, My Girl and I Want You Back. It reached #29 on the Australian Album Chart and the album went on to win Best Debut Album at the 1984 Countdown Awards. Through to their chart-topping successes throughout the '80s and '90s, their international triumphs and countless sold-out local tours, from their 1998-2003 break-up through to their latest album, Chariot of the Gods, Hoodoo Gurus have been and remain one of the most popular and successful musical acts Australia has ever produced. Biographie de GANGgajang
Ganggajang was formed in 1984 when Mark "Cal" Callaghan from The Riptides, former members of The Angels drummer Graham "Buzz" Bidstrup and bassist Chris Bailey, together with Kayellen Bee and Marilyn Delaney, decided a brand new band would best showcase their songs.
After adding former Aliens guitarist and keyboard player Geoffrey Stapleton and Adelaide born guitarist Robert James, "Ganggajang" became their self titled debut album. With sales in excess of 120,000, it spawned the hit singles "Gimme Some Lovin", "House of Cards", "Giver of Life", "The Bigger They Are" and what some regard as the unofficial Australian national anthem - "Sounds of Then (This is Australia)".
A second album, "GANGAGAIN" was completed in 1987 with the band members going on to pursue individual projects.
In 1991, the band reformed (without Kayellen and Marilyn, who had gone on to successful careers in the film industry), and took to the road for one brief tour.
The audience response was so overwhelming it encouraged the band to record the 3rd album "Lingo" which was released in 1994.
Ganggajang continue to perform across Australia and the world and in February 2001 they completed their third tour of Brazil, performing to enormous crowds .
October 2002 saw the release of the long awaited fourth album, "Oceans and Deserts".
