TYDE is giving the world a dish of optimistic nihilism in the form of 'Latte Partay', out April 19th. To celebrate the release, they will be delivering flavourful disco-funk-rock fusion grooves at Loft West End alongside supports Sixth Of The Sun and Moths To A Flame on Thursday 16th May.TYDE brandishes a rich soundscape that ebbs and flows between jazz, prog, pop, funk, and folk. The Meanjin female-led 8-piece have a truly genre-fluid sound, combining percussive finger-style guitar riffs, funky bass and horn lines that'll stick in your head for days, and heavy prog moments for your head-banging pleasure. Paired with the soulful voice of front-woman Ella Belfanti, TYDE will have you both grooving to infectious hooks and trying to work out what time signature you're dancing to.Sixth of the Sun are a 7-piece neo soul group. Their sound is a fusion of vibrant melodies, shaped by the stylings of R&B, funk, gospel and soul. Their chief songwriter is Chelle Janse van Rensburg, who crafts compositions drawing from her life’s intersecting themes of immigration, dissociation, nostalgia and delight. With her rich and innovative voice, she is supported by seven of Meanjin’s exellent and versatile musicians. Pianist Teabo Fargo, Alex Askew on bass, guitarist Daniel Booth and Tyler Shilling on percussion. They are all joined by the brilliant musings of Rosa Mack and Danika Paprika on backing vocals.Forged from the stardust of the eternal night and birthed by Venus herself, Moths To A Flame is an exploration of jazz-house beats, improvised expression, and the sacred groove. Drawing inspirations from heavy cats like Yussef / Kamaal, Pharoah Sanders, KAYTRANADA, Azymuth, and Folamour, your band whips it all together with saxophone melodies, nu-synth, certified bad bassand killer percussion. Our collective prerogative is to get those booties shakin’, and heels on the dance floor.
