The Seven Ups - with Cool Out Sun and Real Good CompanyThis heavy groove combo from Melbourne will take you on an abstruse journey into the darker fringes of instrumental music, drifting from funk to spiritual jazz, to mellow soul and through to psychedelic fuzz rock. The Seven Ups are your soundtrack to the dancefloor at the end of the world.After 5 studio albums and almost 14 years on the scene, The Seven Ups are taking it back to the Evelyn Hotel, where they first cut their teeth on cheep-beer fuelled, weeknight residencies in the early days of the band. Having now toured nationally countless times and appeared on some of the biggest national festivals (Meredith, Womadelaide, Falls, Strawberry etc), the band will be hosting a one-off intimate show at their old stomping ground.The band will play an extended set that will draw on their back catalogue, as well as previewing new music, set to be recorded in the coming months for what will be their 6th album.Joining the band will be local hip-hop legends Cool Out Sun, plus Real Good Company.

Biographie de The Seven Ups
Blending influences from 1970s underground Funk with Jazz, Fuzz and Psych Rock; The Seven Ups are the original 7-piece party band out of the northern suburbs of Melbourne. Expect unrestrained solos by unkempt horns over an unpretentious rhythm that's “as tight as they need to be, and as loose as you want them to be” (DJ Miss Goldie, PBS fm).
In mid-2021 the band released their fourth studio album, The Old World, via Northside Records. Inspired by the catastrophic year that was 2020, the bands’ latest offering journeys into the darker fringes of instrumental music, drifting from funk to spiritual jazz and through to psychedelic fuzz rock.
The Seven Ups music has been featured in Wax Poetics (USA), album of the week (twice) on PBS fm and Beat magazine top 10 on KEXP (USA) and continues to receive airplay on BBC Radio, KEXP, Triple J, and community radio around the country, plus other novel stuff too.
The band has appeared at festivals including Meredith Music Festival (VIC), Womadelaide (SA), Strawberry Fields (NSW), Luminate Festival (NZ) Rainbow Serpent (VIC), Falls Festival (VIC), Bleach Festival (QLD), Global Beats (WA), White Night (VIC), Moomba (VIC), Subsonic (NSW), Bello Winter Festival (NSW), St Kilda Festival (VIC) and more. Other career highlights for the band so far have included opening for Charles Bradley (USA), The Budos Band (USA), Remi (AUS), Babylon Circus (FRA) and The Bamboos (AUS), as well as a string of raucous residencies at Melbourne venues, frequent Australian east coast tours.
