Biographie de DJ Unk

Coming from the Westside of the ATL, Unk is the multi-talented DJ / MC who has rocked High School jams, clubs and mixtapes. He now has a hot, club single titled “Walk it Out”, produced by DJ Montay & Top Quality Productions, that is blazin on radio and in clubs all over the Southeast. Unk built his rep by rocking metro High School parties and jams. “I got started DJ’ing in High school, I went to Doulass, the same school T.I. went to... I DJ’d at all of the High Schools in Atlanta--Southwest Dekalb, Mays, Washington, Grady, Therrell, Avondale, you name it”, he explains.

In 2000, Unk hooked up with DJ Montay of the Big Oomp Camp and soon became the newest member of the Oomp Camp. “Montay helped show me some of the ropes; also DJ Jelly, MC Assault and Big Oomp.. I wouldn’t be where I am today without those guys” says Unk. In 2005, Unk got national exposure on BET Style with Big Tigger & Melissa Ford, DJ’ing at the Grand Opening of Club Crucial, (which is owned by T.I.), located a few doors down from the legendary club westside The Pool Palace.

What makes Unk stand out from the pack of one-dimensional mixtape DJ’s is that he can rap, write and co-produce songs. He co-wrote the song “Suckas come and try me” on Franchises’ top-selling Billboard smash album. “Suckas come and try me” became so hot that I decided to come up with another concept and that became “Walk it Out” he explains. “Walk it Out” started at two of the ATL’s hottest clubs-- The Pool Palace and Club Chocolate. Then went on to win big on the Battleground Show on HOT 107.9 hosted by the Dirty Boys in Atlanta.

“Walk it Out” is one of those songs that defies categories. It has that Big Oomp sound, whichDJ Unk Walk it Out Video means it’s definitely ATL, but it’s not snap and it’s not a typical crunk sound either. “Walk it out” is a straight party jam. “These past few months have been crazy; Alabama, Tennessee, Florida and I’m going to Germany soon”, says Unk.

“I always felt a DJ should be able to rock a crowd like Jam Master Jay, DJ Jelly, Kid Capri, or DJ Jazzy Jeff”, he says. Unk’s debut full length release “Beat’n down your block” features DJ Montay, Southern Style DJ’s, Backbone, Lil Yola and others. Unk is making the streets and music industry heads take notice.
