Biographie de Joelma Marques

Joelma Marques is a Brazilian singer-songwriter and philosopher based in Germany. She moves through different rhythms such as Brazilian MPB, Latin jazz, ballad and blues. Her influences are Belchior, Luiz Gonzaga, Djavan, Elis Regina and Antônio Carlos Jobim. Her musical work often follows the idea of a concept album. Her first CD Passos, produced by Carlinhos Crisóstomo, adresses themes dealt with in her book "The Debutante Princess: Virtue, Love and Happiness" published in 2017 by Apolodoro Virtual Editions. The second CD Tertúlia do Catolé portrays the drought in the sertão, the desire for a better world and describes the beauty of simple life in the sertão. It counts with the participation of Adelson Viana, Marcelo Leite and Nonato Cordeiro. The songs reflect the story of her book "Ara: Philosophical Discussions in the Sertão" published in 2018 by Appris. Her new EP De Nós Dois and singles Antigo Ritual, Dádiva and Boêmio, produced by Alexandre Caldi, counts with the participation of Marcelo Caldi, Itamar Assiere and Nando Duarte. Joelma presents new compositions and re-recorded classics of Brazilian samba like Com Que Roupa de Noel Rosa. The idea is to create a sound classical and modern at the same time, combining jazz and Brazilian rhythms. Joelma performs on stages of jazz bars and festivals and participated in the Eurovision "Schlagerboom" as a background singer for Anastacia, Howard Carpendale and Andreas Gabalier.
