Description du concert
Emily Slade is one of Britain's foremost female fingerstyle guitarists. Emily took up the acoustic guitar at the age of nine, making her stage debut that same year. At eighteen, Emily studied English and Education at Cambridge University. During her final year she launched her record label ?Rustic Thorn Records? to release a limited edition EP called ?Small Talk?. Her debut album, ?Shire Boy?, followed, gaining a BBC Radio 2 Horizon Award nomination for best newcomer. Emily took to the road, promoting the album by travelling internationally, carving out a staggering reputation amongst fellow musicians and support at grassroots level from the audiences at her concerts. The partnership between her intricate guitar playing and enchanting vocals are rarely found in one person, making Emily an enthralling performer. She is a woman quite clearly at ease with her audience. Her winning personality and presence have endeared her to audiences on both sides of the Atlantic. Emily will be joined by Chris Fox. Award winning 21st Century contemporary singer-songwriter Chris Fox is an independent musician spanning the roots lexicon of Folk, Americana, Country and Blues. A genre defying troubadour, audiences are enthralled by his rich vocals, complex guitar playing, and loop pedal alchemy finding Chris to be humorous & thought provoking in equal measures. His naturally laid back, unostentatious style creates the perfect ambience for an intimate and inclusive live experience drawing listeners in with tales of the everyday and the unexpected. Chris released his first album ?From the Shadows? in 2019. Then in September ?22 Chris released his second album ?In Plain Sight? to critical acclaim. His music over the years has been aired widely both internationally and on radio stations across the UK including BBC Radio and has seen press support from titles such as Folk Radio UK, RnR magazine, Irish Music Magazine and AmericanaUK, while gaining a nomination for Best Male Artist of the Year from FATEA, 2023.

Biographie de Chris Fox

“Chris Fox - this fella’s got something about him, he’s a class act, he’s a great writer and a fantastic performer. Just sheer genius!”
Frank Hennessy BBC WALES, Celtic heartbeat show Sunday 17th July

“Chris Fox’s voice is simply stunning. Powerful and confident, it’s a considerable instrument full of nuance and feeling, a master class of nuance and subtle inflections. Typical of the best of Lyle Lovett, Chris’s brilliantly phrased lyrics flow effortlessly like conversation or good poetry; pure class. Like Jake Thackray, Chris has impeccable timing, light and as understated as good jazz. A full bloodied folk anthem - Chris stands head and shoulders above a crowded field and it’s hard to argue with or top that” Marc Higgins FATEA MAGAZINE SEPTEMBER 2022

“Gorgeous, Brilliant stuff, exquisite….I’ll be playing a lot more from the Album”.
Tim Walker BBC RADIO LINCOLNSHIRE, Tim Walker’s Folk Show14/8/22

A genre defying Folk troubadour Chris made rapid progress through the UK folk and roots scene with his song writing, utilising a variety of styles across the roots lexicon of traditional & contemporary folk, Americana, Country and Blues. Audiences are enthralled by his rich vocals, complex guitar playing, and loop pedal alchemy finding Chris to be humorous & thought provoking in equal measures. His naturally laid back, unostentatious style creates the perfect ambience for an intimate and inclusive live experience drawing listeners in with tales of both the everyday and the unexpected.

Born and raised in Cambridgeshire, Chris Fox cut his teeth playing for pints in local drinking establishments along the river Great Ouse in 2014. Fast forward to an award-winning singer songwriter, Chris has performed at Folk Festivals, Clubs and Theatres in the UK as Headliner, in Double Bills and as support for major acts on the UK Folk Scene. Runner up in the Bury St Edmunds song competition he went on to win the Sheringham Showcase to open for Fairport Convention at Folk on The Pier 2018 and the Lichfield Folk Festival song writing competition 2019. Chris released his first studio album ‘From the Shadows’ and the single ‘Bird of Paradise’ in 2019. Both were well received.

This year, despite the carnage Covid created in the music industry of the last 2 years, Chris has a busy festival season ahead playing Black Deer, Costa del Folk, the Main Stage at Ely + a song writing workshop, headlining at 2 smaller festivals; Mad Hatters and Birch & Stock, and is also playing Bury St Edmunds and The Smoke and Fire Festivals. In the Autumn following the Album Launch in Cambridge September 9th Chris will take it on tour to venues around the UK playing from the south coast to the North West.
