Biographie de Tyler Nail
Tyler Nail is a dynamic songwriter, singer, and performer who has captivated audiences all over the Southeast. He has shared stages with many stellar artists (including Caleb Caudle, The Hackansaw Boys, Dex Romweber, Underhill Rose, Roadkill Ghost Choir, Lyra Lynn, Jim Avett, Suzy Bogguss) across many U.S. states – from North Carolina to Texas, Maine, Michigan, Florida, and most states in between.
Tyler Nail often performs as a solo artist but he’s currently also fronting an electric trio (electric guitar and bass in addition to Nail's acoustic guitar). This new trio is a gritty counterweight to Nail's pretty, tear-jerking solo sets. Nail's show consists of solo and trio performances.
Nail’s music sounds like his home state of North Carolina. It is rooted in the Appalachian music tradition, decorated with Southern imagery, nostalgia, and grit. Tyler Nail describes his artistic process as his method for “slowing down time.” Tyler Nail’s music is original, southern, poetic, and of high quality.
Tyler Nail was born in Winston-Salem, NC. He was raised in a log cabin his grandfather built. He grew up watching his father play drums in church, mimicking him during services. He began drumming at a young age and discovered an appreciation for writing in middle school. He got his first guitar at age 16 and started writing songs, which quickly became an obsession and passion.
Nail spent a few years recording demos and playing small shows near his hometown. His first shows were in a Taco Bell in King, NC. He started playing at a local coffee shop every week for an open mic, and sometimes weekend shows. When he started playing in downtown Winston-Salem, his local following grew, and soon Nail began traveling the southeast of the country performing music.
Tyler Nail has released a variety of independently produced regionally-released recording projects. After a hiatus from touring, Tyler Nail is currently in the re-launch stage of his career, preparing for his first national release and tour.
