Biographie de Boyfriend
Boyfriend, the "mysterious, raunchy, feminist rapper" as described by NPR, has taken her special brand of "campy rap antagonism" (LA Times), "high-concept booty bass" (Rolling Stone), and "candy-coated cultural criticism" (Nasty Gal) to stages across the globe.
Boyfriend is a songwriter (Charli XCX, Slayyyter), producer (Rebecca Black, Jon Batiste) and performer (“5 Best Things That Happened at Outside Lands” - Rolling Stone and featured in Sony Pictures’ Grammy-Award winning Jazz Fest documentary).
The Nashville born and New Orleans-based artist is featured opposite Lil Wayne and longtime collaborator Big Freedia, on the song “El Niño (feat. Lil Wayne & Boyfriend)”, off of Freedia’s 2023 album Central City.
The single follows Boyfriend’s debut project, Sugar & Spice, which features the likes of the global feminist-art collective Pussy Riot, award-winning T-Pop artist Pyra, and LGBTQ-icon Amanda Lepore. The album peaked in the top 70 on the NACC College Radio Charts and landed placements with Netflix, HBO, and Apple to name a few.
