Description du concert
PLEASE NOTE: 2 shows, 4pm and 7:30pm! Award-winning group Veronneau, fronted by Quebecoise vocalist Lynn Veronneau and UK guitarist Ken Avis, transport audiences to 1971 when American music changed forever with the release of Joni Mitchell's Blue and Carole King's Tapestry. Through anecdotes and songs, Veronneau and Avis celebrate these landmark albums that spotlighted women as composers and performers, telling Mitchell and King’s stories in their own words. Two of the most critically acclaimed and commercially successful albums of all time, Blue and Tapestry are packed with songs of inspiration, love, home, and loss. Award-winning, world-jazz group Veronneau has performed at the Music Center at Strathmore, as well as the Kennedy Center, the legendary Blues Alley supper club, the DC Jazz Festival, and across the US, Canada and Europe. "Satisfying and bewitching...one of the best voices in the business." Canadian Audiophile "The kind of thoughtful artistry one can expect from masters of the music." Washingtonian Magazine " Veronneau could easily fit on jazz, world and pop radio... a kaleidoscope of internationally flavored tunes and varied textures delivered by a gorgeous voice." All About Jazz

Absolutely magical performance! Veronneau's ethereal arrangement of "Here Comes the Rain" brought primal shivers that Annie Lennox would envy. The violinist coaxed haunting vibrations from his instrument. Ken's original "Make the World a Better Place" is supremely sublime. Make your brain happy - listen to Veronneau over and over and over!

Biographie de Veronneau

Based in the Washington DC area, this international band led by sensational Quebecoise vocalist Lynn Veronneau have toured in the UK, Europe, Canada and the US, and have enjoyed 3 Top 10 album releases in the Jazz and World Music charts.

The band have received seven awards in the US mid-Atlantic region for "Best Jazz Group," "Best Jazz Vocals", "Best Jazz Recording", and play regularly at large festivals as well as on major stages such as The Kennedy Center, Strathmore and Blues Alley.

Véronneau was formed in 2010 by French Canadian vocalist Lynn Véronneau and her husband, British guitarist Ken Avis, . The couple met a decade ago while performing at a festival in Switzerland. Each performed widely in Canada, the United Kingdom and the rest of Europe before teaming up in the U.S.

Lynn's rich and captivating voice has an intonation and emotional quality reminiscent of Eva Cassidy, but carries more force, approaching that of compatriot Céline Dion. She has been compared to Astrud Gilberto and Stacey Kent in style and delivery.
