About Liam Purcell & Cane Mill Road
Rapidly rising on the bluegrass scene, Billboard-charting artists Liam Purcell & Cane Mill Road perform internationally and stateside winning both industry awards and the hearts of fans who turn out to see them at some of the most iconic venues: MerleFest, FloydFest, Grey Fox, Wide Open Bluegrass, The Station Inn, Silver Dollar City, just to name a few of the hundreds of venues played over the past six years.
Named Momentum Band of the Year by IBMA in 2019, Liam Purcell & Cane Mill Road have been recognized as one of the fastest growing bands on the scene. Their latest release "Roots" debuted at #6 on the Billboard Bluegrass Album Charts, and was streamed over 30,000 times within two weeks of its release.
You’ve seen Liam Purcell & Cane Mill Road on national TV on PBS three times, including this season featured on David Holt’s State of Music Show. The band’s first four albums resulted in 12 weeks total on Billboard’s Bluegrass Albums Chart including a #2 spot right behind Billy Strings. The band is also featured on Jim Lauderdale's album "When Carolina Comes Home".
Growing up just down the road from Doc Watson, Liam Purcell leads Cane Mill Road as they rock the traditional bluegrass standards they were raised on, yet boldly write original music with roots in the fertile grounds of bluegrass, old-time, and Americana.
Liam Purcell is only 18, yet the multi-instrumentalist has performed internationally, garnered two nominations for IBMA Momentum Instrumentalist of the Year, and was one of the youngest musicians selected for The Savannah Music Festival’s Acoustic Music Seminar.
You’ve seen them at the some of the biggest festivals in the nation: IBMA’s Wide Open Bluegrass Streetfest, MerleFest, Delaware Valley, Ogden Music Festival, Bluegrass Island, Carolina in the Fall, Silver Dollar City, FloydFest, Shakori, and hundreds of other venues/festivals over the past six years including internationally on a 9-day tour of Argentina, where the band represented the United States in a United Nations world music festival.
The band is sponsored by Deering Banjos, GHS Strings, Shubb Capos, Sorensen Mandolin & Guitar Company, Kogut Violins, NS Design, and Fishman Amplification.
