Join Séan McCann as he kicks off the Halifax Urban Folk Festival with his very special “Great Big Songbook” tribute show. 2023 Marks the XXX anniversary of one of Canada’s favourite bands and founding member Séan McCann will be celebrating the legend & the legacy. Singalong with “The Shantyman” as he sails us back in time through hilarious stories and foot stomping traditional favourites to the brighter bays of his native Newfoundland. This is the only “Tribute Show” you need to see this decade and a nostalgic tip of the hat to the shared history of a truly iconic Canadian band. Biographie de Sean McCann
Séan McCann bought his first guitar in 1989 which he affectionately calls “Old Brown”. Old Brown has been around. He was there for the first song Séan ever wrote. He was there as Séan founded Great Big Sea, the acclaimed and multi-million selling band that would change his life. He was there to hold Séan up many a night as he struggled with alcoholism, and he has been there to help guide Séan out of the darkness with music as his medicine. Séan is now touring his 5th solo album and sharing his story of struggle, hope and redemption with audiences all around the world.
