Biographie de Vaudeville

By definition, Vaudeville is a satirical variety show. Vaudeville, a trio of musicians from the suburbs of Los Angeles, creates music similar to the vaudevillian ideal; to provide variety, humor and to entertain. Combining many genres to produce a sound that is both retro and modern, Vaudeville’s music has something for everyone. Many of their songs revolve around recurring characters and themes, creating their own musical world. The songs are at times progressive, but keep simple and melodic vibes without being over-indulgent.

The band writes and records predominately as a trio, but often brings other musician friends (both in studio and live) to add texture to the songs. Vaudeville has shard the stage with many Los Angeles bands, like neighbors dios (malos), The Monolators and Mika Miko, as well as touring bands like NOMO. Drummer, Sean Johnson, has also played extensively with many Los Angeles acts including, Honeyhoney, Correatown and The Sweet Hurt. Due to all of this, the band has created a strong and dedicated fan base that is always growing.

Vaudeville has also scored a few independent features. “Pee Stains and Other Disasters”, starring P.J. Soles (Rock and Roll High School) and “Slaughter Party”, starring many beloved b-movie stars, are just 2. Both films were featured in many film festivals and are available through online rental distributors. Scoring films is a major long term goal for the band.
Vaudeville also gets regular airplay at Los Angeles’ influential college radio station KXLU, and as well many other stations throughout the country. Their self released 2006 release “Crystal Lake” 7” and 2007 released “Planets” EP (in which they recorded 9 songs to represent each planet) still sell consistently at shows, independent record stores and various online distributors. Their brand new, full length album, “Vaudeville” is now officially out on OTIK RECORDS. It is varied in styles but keeps the same consistent creative energy throughout. Using barely any electronic instruments, the album has a warm, organic quality to it that works for both folk and rock fans.

Always writing new material, Vaudeville’s greatest ambition is to create and experiment as much as possible in the studio.
