Biographie de Rook

About ROOK
“… Melbourne heavy rockers Rook fired up the crowd with tracks from their ’Transitions’ EP. Whilst being a sonically impressive recording, Transitions really comes to life in a live capacity, each track inflating, amplifying and escalating flaunting layers of sound often veiled by the recording process. The band chiselled through the nuances, the shades of grey lurking beneath their heavy slab of sound until they reached colours at the centre. ’Desley’ dropped its screwdriver and picked up a sledgehammer. ’The List’ sailed on a river of melancholy until a wave of fury engulfed it. ’Fiction’ and ’Anonami’ became less obvious in terms of song structure, adopting an ambitious and epic scope that captivated the crowd. Having watched countless frontmen fail to live up to expectations live, it was gripping to see Forbes Mckail tear through the set with a power house vocal range that belies the one captured on ’Transitions’. Combine this with Tyson Fish’s wired and fiery guitar playing, the organic dexterity of Adam May’s bass skills and the impressive technical aptitude of drummer Rod Crowe and you’ve got a water tight formula. By the end of the set I was kicking myself that I’d just wasted a year and a half flitting around Melbourne skipping their shows.”
