Description du concert
The Leap Year celebrate 10 years since the release of their album "The Narrowing" with a show at Four5Nine Bar on Saturday, August 19. Super special guests will be Melbourne singer-songwriter Jessie L. Warren and brand new trio Hidden Cycles, featuring members of Emperors and The Wednesday Society. For those coming in in late, The Leap Year formed in 2006. It was supposed to be an acoustic duo between Martin Allcock & Rob Schifferli of minor ache and braving the seabed. It quickly became a quartet with Chris Reimer (drums) & Paul Haimes (bass). TLY played a great number of shows around Perth and in 2007 they released their first album 'with a little push, a pattern appears'. It was released by Hobbledehoy Records. Their first full length release. It reviewed and sold very well. TLY was RTRFM's most played artist that year. They found it difficult to follow up the album and it took until 2013 before they did with the much darker and fleshed out. 'The Narrowing'. A national tour happened and again the band retreated into the shadows to finally re-emerge with a 7inch release of Knesting/dental work in 2015. Then again. Nothing. Now in 2023, a 5 piece. Simon Struthers on bass and Tara John on keys, TLY are back playing and recording their 3rd album. About The Narrowing, frontman Rob Schifferli recounts "It's been 10 years since we released this album. From memory, it took about 6 years to make. The title was supposed to allude to a place where these songs might live. Musically, it's a vast piece of work. Lyrically, I think we managed to touch on all of the band members lives at the time. I still don't know what to make of this one. Myself, Martin, Chris, Paul, Mel, Simon and Crispin worked pretty hard to make it sound the best it could.  We thank Hobbledehoy Records for their unwavering support too. Plus, we have enjoyed hearing about how the listener feels about it as well."
