Biographie de Nikolay Khondzinsky

Nikolay Khondzinsky was the winner of some national and international contests held among young violinists as early as a teenager. He graduated from the Moscow State Conservatoire with distinction majoring in opera and symphonic conducting. For several years N.Khondzinsky studied privately with outstanding musician Eduard Serov, professor at St.Petersburg Conservatoire and a student of Eugeny Mravinsky.
Nikolay Khondzinsky is the founder, artistic director and conductor of the Russian Conservatoire Chamber Capella, which is the only Russian musical team that has sacred Bach’s cantatas along with baroque and modern masterpieces on its repertoire. The programmes done by N. Khondzinsky and his team under the Terra Barocco project are performed annually in the best Russian concert halls (Concert Hall of the Mariinsky Theatre (St.Petersburg), Moscow International Arts Center, Moscow Concervatory’s Halls, etc). British reviewer W.Mark Poberts at DSCH Journal said a recording done by the Russian Conservatory headed by N. Khondzinsky «in the foreseeable future is unlikely to be surpassed for quality». The People’s Artist K. Khachaturian also gave N. Khondzinsky quite a flattering description by calling him one of the most outstanding and talented musicians of the new generation and his conducting brilliant.
For several years Khondzinsky has also been a head of the Symhonic and Chamber orchestras of the Moscow Music Haydn’s School. The teams under the direction of N. Khondzinsky have repeatedly become laureates of various competitions and festivals (Winner of the Grand Prix "Moscow Camerata" (2010), Winner of the First Prize/ Grand Prix of the First/ Second Moscow Music Schools Festival "Joseph Haydn and his time" (2009, 2012), etc.
He has edited and performed for the first time a number of compositions by Jan Dismas Zelenka, Antonio Vivaldi, Johann Georg Pisendel, etc.
After being invited in 2014 by Valery Gergiev Khondzinsky regularly collaborates as a guest conductor with the Mariinsky Symphony Orchestra.
In the season 2011-2012 he was the chief conductor in Ryazan State Musical Theatre. Since 2012 he has collaborated as a guest conductor with the theatre. He’s conducted at the theatre «The Snow Maiden» by N.A. Rimsky-Korsakov (also director of the production), «Eugeniy Onegin» by P.I. Tchaikovsky, «Demon» by A. Rubinschtein (also director of the production), «Carmen» by G. Bizet (also director of the production), «Der Zigeunerbaron» by J. Strauss (also director of the production), etc.
As a guest conductor Khondzinsky has collaborated with the Saint Petersburg Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra (after being invited by Yuriy Temirkanov in 2016), the Universal Ballet Company (Seoul, South Korea), Volgograd Academic Symphony Orchestra, Saratov Wind Orchestra and many other collectives.
His discography includes:
V.Y. Shebalin - the first complete recording of choral cycles (Toccata Classics, London - 2008/2011); D.D. Shostakovich, the first recording of ’’The Songs of a Guard's Division’’ (Toccata Slassics, London - 2010/2011); G.V. Sviridov - the first recordings of works for choir, accompanied by an instrumental ensemble (in preparation); Y.B. Abdokov - the first recordings of orchestral works (in preparation);
