Esa-Pekka Salonen

Grammy Award-winning conductor Esa-Pekka Salonen leads the LA Phil in his latest orchestral work, Castor, as part of its world premiere weekend, followed by Tchaikovsky’s irresistible violin Concerto with Gramophone’s 2017 Young Artist of the Year, violinist Daniel Lozakovich. Recently announced as San Francisco Symphony's next music director, Finnish conductor and composer Esa-Pekka Salonen also serves as Conductor Laureate for the Los Angeles Philharmonic, where he was Music Director from 1992 until 2009. Named Musician of the Year in 2006 by Musical America, Esa-Pekka Salonen is the recipient of many major awards, including the UNESCO Rostrum Prize, the Siena Prize, the Nemmers Composition Prize, and the Royal Philharmonic Society's Conductor Award, among others. Daniel Lozakovich made his concerto debut with the Moscow Virtuosi Chamber Orchestra and has already performed as a soloist throughout Europe with orchestras including the Orchestre National de France, the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic, Vienna Chamber Orchestra, Tchaikovsky Symphony, and Moscow Philharmonic. Lozakovich is a recipient of numerous international accolades including first prize at the 2016 Valdimir Spivakov International Violin Competition; both the first prize and the Grand Prix at the 2012 EMCY International music competition; and second prize at the Yehudi Menuhin International Competition for Young Violinists.
