Biographie de Lean

LEAN has all but skipped through the baby steps of a band’s first year. 2017 started with a widely acclaimed first single “Come Back”. The video premiered with Nylon Magazine and was dubbed “The perfect make-out song”. The record quickly showed up on Spotify’s “Fresh Finds” playlist and Apple’s “Breaking Alternative”. By the years end the song had found praise once again as “Fresh Finds: Best of 2017” and bumped to Apple’s “A-List Alternative”. After appearing on the radar of tastemaker Kevin Bronson’s radio show and blog BuzzbandsLA the band garnered the attention of French indie label and playlist gurus Kitsuné. They released their second single “Years” on Kitsuné’s Hotstream playlist and again received acclaim on the label/playlist best of 2017.

The duo originally met after Kyle McCammon relocated from New York City. Shortly after meeting Stephen Johnson in Los Angeles, the two began writing and producing as LEAN. “I had this concept of making a bunch of ‘90s hip-hop beats and then trying to build indie rock songs on top of them. With Stephen’s ear for hooks it came together effortlessly” McCammon said of LEAN’s conception.

With their first year not even over yet, Lean is already poised to make a bigger splash in year two. Their 3rd single “Heatwave” is due out in December and their forthcoming album Years is set to be released early in 2018. Along with the album that was self-produced by the pair in their Los Angeles studio, they will release a single and video for their song “Inaction” and continue cutting though the fat of the music industry.
