Description du concert
June 21st- Marti Jones and Don Dixon-After more than 20 years performing together, Marti Jones and Don Dixon have forged an impressive collective musical career flaunting melodic range, edgy depth, clever but catchy lyrics and a mad mutual appreciation for the quality of life.Jones and Dixon have managed to do all this together without diminishing their distinct individual traits in the process. Not an easy process, especially within a marriage or the music industry. On one hand, there’s Dixon, the singer, songwriter, musician and critically acclaimed producer originally from Lancaster, whose list of credits is as lengthy as it is diverse. Highlights range from R.E.M.’s landmark debut to work with The Smithereens, Marshall Crenshaw, Joe Cocker, even Ronnie Spector. Then, enter sultry Jones with her rich voice and sensitive quality. Some compare her vocal skills to Dusty Springfield or Annie Lennox, but she exerts formidable skills as an artistic interpreter all her ownTogether they wield sassy stage rapport and consummate talent, tossing around defining terms from jangle pop, Southern soul, and alt/indie to pop rock, acoustic pop and contemporary rock.Excited to add Todd Burge to this already great night.-From his recent work with Tim O’Brien, to his early days as an alternative rocker at WVU in Morgantown, if it’s been discovered by man, West Virginian Todd Burge has written about it. Born to ponder and observe life, each of his songs tells a story. Whether drawn from personal experience or a tale of poetically woven fiction, you’ll live every second of it through his songs.Doors open at 7:30/ Music at 8pmGeneral AdmissionPre-sale tickets-$18.00 /$23 day of show

Biographie de Don Dixon
Don Dixon was born on December 13, 1950 in Lancaster, South Carolina. His college roommate was the writer Bruce Brooks.
Dixon is considered to be one of the key producers of what is called the jangle pop movement of the early 1980s. He spent thirteen years as a member of NC cult heroes Arrogance. Around 1983, Dixon attracted attention by co-producing with Mitch Easter, R.E.M.'s landmark debut LP Murmur. He then spent several years producing the work of varied artists including Chris Stamey (formerly of The dB's) and The Smithereens. Considered to be a highlight of this period was Tommy Keene's Run Now EP. This success led to Dixon recording his solo debut Most of the Girls Like to Dance But Only Some of the Boys Like To, a further affirmation of his love of classic pop melodies and spiky, Nick Lowe-inspired wordplay.
Dixon is married to the singer Marti Jones.
In 2006, Dixon released his first new album in six years, The Entire Combustible World in One Small Room.
Currently Dixon is producing the follow up album for Babyshaker. The Charlotte based hard rock glam band is recording their sophmore effort at the legendary Milestone Club, in Charlotte N.C.
