Bossaphonik

For June's Bossaphonik event at the East Oxford Community Centre we have a superb collaborative project of two top previous Bossaphonik bands. Ex-Fela Kuti keyboardist and UK Afrobeat ambassador Dele Sosimi with multi-cultural sensations Lokkhi Terra, known for their effortless blend of Bangla-folk with Cuban and funk grooves. This project is called CubAfrobeat and explores the Cuban links with the favourite music of many of these musicians Afrobeat. The band manage to make the fusion appear seemless through the synergies existing between Afro-Cuban and Yoruban-Nigerian music and language. To represent Afrobeat, there is no one better here in the UK than Dele Sosimi band member with cultural legend and musical pioneer Fela Kuti and later a musical director for Fela's son, Femi Kuti and The Positive Force band. CubAfrobeat will be featuring as a high energy 9 piece collective featuring many of London's top Cuban musicians. They have played in bands with the likes of Ibrahim Ferrer (Buena Vista Social Club), Ska Cubano, Ariwo and also Bellowhead and Kyle Eastwood.
