Description du concert
Zion Union Heritage Museum celebrates Black History Month with a presentation of “FUNK & SOUL” at the Cotuit Center for the Arts, a fundraiser to benefit the Zion Union Heritage Museum in Hyannis. “We are gonna rock,” said John Reed, museum president and president of the Cape Cod NAACP. “FUNK & SOUL” is taking place on Saturday, Feb. 16 at the Cotuit Center for the Arts, 4404 Falmouth Rd. (Route 28), Cotuit. Doors open at 7 p.m. for a 7:30 start. Featuring six-time Grammy nominees, The GroovaLottos, this special concert/party is a fundraiser for the Zion Union Heritage Museum, which celebrates the African American, Cape Verdean and Wampanoag populations, as well as the ethnic and demographic diversity of Cape Cod. The Zion Union Heritage Museum was founded in part by the Community Preservation Act and the Lyndon Paul Lorusso Foundation in partnership with the Town of Barnstable. The museum is recognized not only as a historical landmark in the Commonwealth, but a national historic landmark as well. The GroovaLottos and the Cotuit Center for the Arts have a common link: the arts center’s founder, Cotuit resident and former Motown session guitarist, James Wolf, brought drummer Eddie Ray Johnson and keyboardist, singer/songwriter Mwalim together for some jam session in 2009. Those sessions evolved into the The GroovaLottos in 2011, making their very first appearance at 4C’s Tilden Arts Center for the Multicultural Festival. Tickets for Feb. 16 are $27 and $32, with senior discounts available. They may be purchased in advance by contacting the Cotuit Center for the Arts Box Office, 508-428-0669, ext. 1, or ordering online here

Biographie de The Groovalottos

The GroovaLottos are a multi-Grammy nominated soul-funk jam band, and musical production team created by veteran touring and studio session players and singers. Starting as a series of weekly jam sessions, the group quickly rose as a favorite at bars, clubs, events, and festivals throughout New England and the east coast. A pioneering force in the Thump & Soul sound, The GroovaLottos made their debut on the Americana/ Indie Blues charts with the single “Do You Mind…?” at number 11, and proceeded to spend the next 41 weeks in the top ten, peeking at number 3.

The 2017 release of their album, "Ask Yo' Mama" (Midnight Groove Recordings/Liberation M3), and an innovative street-corner concert tour, made them a favorite on jam band oriented radio shows throughout the USA, leading to the album moving several thousand units and receiving 4 Grammy nominations for Pop and R&B that year, as well as 2 additional nominations in R&B and Rock for the following year.

As the resident production team and session band at POLYPHONIC STUDIOS, they are also a top-level ‘musical think-tank’ who can produce artists and bands in virtually any genre conceivable. With a commercial grade recording studio at their disposal, the ensemble’s music making possibilities are endless.

The GroovaLottos are available for concerts, festivals, private events, and tours. They currently have a 3rd Thursday residency at George’s in Brockton, MA.
