ABOUT THE PERSUADERS...
The Persuaders band is a five-piece band formed in 1989 by founding members Michael Cain, Pat Kelley, and David Moseman. Truth be told, their story starts several years before that. Michael and Pat started playing music together back in the early sixties, at teen clubs and dances. They formed a band called the "Commodores" in 1968, which eventually became "Trinity" in 1969. Shortly after, they began heading up the Omaha nightclub scene. In 1974, Trinity hit the road and went on a 12-month tour throughout the Midwest. Upon their return to Omaha, they began opening for numerous national acts. In 1982, Michael and Pat met Dave, who then started playing bass for Trinity. In 1989, after many years touring as Trinity, the decision was made that a new group should be formed: The Persuaders.
The Persuaders took off as one of the top Midwest cover bands during the nineties. At this time a new member joined, John Scherle on guitar. Fast-forward into the 00s, a few more new members were added to the mix- Eileen Frary and Dave Matthies. Over the years, the band continued to evolve. Persuaders were known for making over current hits and resurrecting rock & roll classics with their creative interpretations. They even picked up a few accolades, seeing John Scherle and Dave Matthies inducted into the Iowa Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Sadly, after playing music for over 45 years, Pat Kelley passed away in 2014. He was one of the original founding members and his position in the band was never refilled. Nevertheless, the band played on and continues to be a fixture in the local Omaha music scene.
