Description du concert
Performance starts 7.45pm. Following the enormous success of their evening at Finstock in . November, and by popular demand, composers and guitarists Gordon and Nick return for a second evening of duos, solos and banter. 'Long may gifted men such as Gordon and Nick draw folk together' (Bernadette Lynch, Oxford Times). They will be joined by fiddler Judith Henderson (Hooper) as a guest this evening.\nGordon Giltrap \nAs one of the UK's most respected guitarists, the legendary Gordon Giltrap has graced the music business with his dedication to his craft and affection for his audience for over 40 years. His musical styles cross several genres, including folk, blues, folk-rock, pop, classical and rock. He was signed to Transatlantic Records at the age of 18, and has released numerous acclaimed albums, including the 1976 album Visionary, based on the art and poetry of William Blake. His follow-up album Perilous Journey was named by the Sunday Times as one of the best albums of 1977. Gordon has performed alongside Bert Jansch (one of his major influences), John Renbourn, Brian May, Rick Wakeman and Mike Oldfield, amongst many others.\n \nNick Hooper \nAlthough Nick Hooper is better known as a film-music composer, he started his musical career as a guitarist. In the 1980s Nick released a folk album Turning Tables with Chris Leslie, and a solo album of music by JS Bach which was critically acclaimed, comparing his playing to that of John Williams and Andres Segovia. Decades later, after a successful film music career, scoring two Harry Potter films and winning many awards, Nick has returned to his first love the guitar. A couple of years ago he recorded an album of mainly Irish music Six Strings, which is due to be re-released by Angel Air Records this June.\n \n'Long may gifted men such as Gordon and Nick draw folk together' (Bernadette Lynch, Oxford Times).\nGordon and Nick will be joined by fiddler Judith Henderson (Hooper) as a guest on this occasion. Nick and Judith have recently recorded an album of their duo Henderson:Hooper at Real World Studios, to be released during 2018.
