A propos de Fossil Evolution
The story of FOSSIL EVOLUTION began when a 14 year old kid started listening to all this crazy, refreshing, ultra-modern, and never-been-heard-before-music with his friends. This music was so inspiring and new, he decided to play an instrument (bass guitar) and form a band himself. These were the 70's, and ISOPODA was born... ...Many years later, this little kid has three sons himself. Arne, a very technical and tight rock drummer, with a jazz education. Maarten, a melodic guitar and keyboard player who loves odd chord structures. Wouter, with a great sense of melting different music-styles and players together. The father, Arnold, and his three sons all have one thing in common: they just love progressive and symphonic rock. After many years of practicing in their room, countless hours of their mother driving them to musical academies, and playing in the occasional band, it was time to start a project on their own. They decided to play a few symphonic rock covers, but this project soon came to an end due to a lack of rehearsing room. A few years later they finally found a place where they could jam without a sound limit. During these years, Arnold and Maarten already wrote a few song idea's, so the 4 guys were finally able to play and create their own, original music. The only thing missing now was a keyboard player so the band decided to call in Pieter, a youth friend and a classical-well-trained piano player. The line-up of the band as we now know it was finally complete. After rehearsing, writing and re-arranging original songs, and getting to know each other musically, the band was finally ready to perform a 1 hour 'try-out'. On their first gig in their hometown they already had a crowd of about 400 people. They all loved it. The band realized this: 'if they liked our first public performance ever, with all these minor errors, flaws, a lot of stress and music nobody in the crowd had ever heard before, they will most certainly like it when we record an album and start playing gigs. Their first CD was recorded in room 13, Ghent. It includes 6 original songs: five with vocals, and one instrumental. - 'BEAUTIFUL COLOURS' will be the opening track on our debut album. The lyrics are more relevant than ever and capture the quite dark feeling of this song very well. - 'WORLD IN MOTION' is a song based on layered guitar parts and vocals that should stay with you for years. -'NEXT TIME' begins with an odd time signature but evolves in a very catchy and strong chorus. -'THE VOICE INSIDE' begins as a heavy rock song leading into a beautiful chorus with a rather unexpected bridge that creates a very symphonic atmosphere. The musical explosion that follows should send shivers down your spine. -'OBLIVION' is an instrumental song with a lot of different musical styles, time signatures and chord structures. -'CONSIDERING' (ISOPODA) is featured in a renewed version of a song from their debut album 'Acrostichon' from the '70. Stay tuned for updates on our first CD. It will be released soon. FOSSIL EVOLUTION knows this is only the beginning. Having fun and laughs at what we're doing and creating original, fresh music are the foundations of a band with lots of possibilities for the future. Follow us on our journey!!!!!!
