A propos de The Slacks
“We make the impossible really hard.”
~Jonathan Hutchings
We are The Slacks we play hard-hitting blues rock music with a modern edge. Fuzzed-out hardcore post blues is pretty much the most accurate description of what we play. The Slacks are built on friendship and faith first, then on music. A truly collaborative project, each member has added a unique and irreplaceable aspect to The Slacks’ music.
For about two-and-a-half years, The Slacks were a basement band that got together to jam and eat on Friday nights. They enjoyed each other’s company and tossed around musical ideas, learning how to play together. During this time, zero songs were brought to completion. In summer of 2018, they decided to take a break and consider other pursuits. By late November, they missed each other and their music. It was at this point that they began writing and rehearsing furiously. In January, they spent a week recording their six-song EP, “HOTELS · MOTELS · HEALTHCARE FACILITIES” in David’s home studio, and spent the next week mixing the project. In February 2019, The Slacks finally released music to the world. The EP was well received within the local music scene, and they began what they hope will be a long journey. Since the release of their debut EP, The Slacks have been playing live shows, writing, and recording relentlessly. Very quickly, they established themselves within the Denver music scene as one of the best live acts, always pushing the limits of what they can do. Since May, the Slacks have had a commitment to release a single a month to push themselves to write more, improve their recording technique, and grow their audience. They look forward to the years ahead, developing both craft and friendship.
