A pioneer in the field of alternative music controllers, Bravetti demonstrates his passion for connection and interaction. In his shows, he plays with the crowd, changing sounds with a wave of his arm, or a bend of his MIDI-wired fingers, before plunging into relentless beats. This wizardry is made possible by tireless preparation; in some cases Bravetti had to invent his own specialized technology. Such expertise led recently to his involvement as a designer for Native Instruments, and collaborator for Ableton and Arturia. But all of these achievements are second to his fundamental love for music and art. Inspired in his youth by Kraftwerk and Jean Michel Jarre, Gustavo pursued a pioneering path in his birth country of Uruguay, eventually finding his way amongst the most influential producers of his time. His minimal remix of the classic “Greece 2000” was selected by Mid-Town Records as a highlight track on their 10 year retrospective album in 2008, while other originals have appeared on Pacha Ibiza compilations and prominent labels in the US and Europe. With these achievements, and almost 30 years of musical accolades behind him, Gustavo Bravetti remains as excited to create and perform as when he began. Today’s technology has opened doors he could only hope for in the late 90’s, when he was teaching himself English just to understand the manuals for the latest synthesizers.
