A propos de Tommy Trash
Producer, DJ and musician, Tommy Trash is on track to become one of the biggest names in Australian dance music. In the space of a few months, he has risen from nowhere to score hot record deals and even hotter club appearances.
Bundaberg prodigy and son of the famous Nev and Nev, little Tommy Olsen grew to love music under the shadow of a giant polar bear and with the scent of rum in his nostrils. Clutching a Yamaha Little Wonder from the age of five, Tommy just kept playing, moving through David Bowie, New Order and Pink Floyd and picking up piano, guitar and trumpet along the way.
But somewhere between playing in bands and studying for a degree in music composition, Tommy Trash was born.
The special brand of Trash talent has caught the eye of record labels and fellow producers alike, with Tommy putting his name to a barrage of tracks in 2007. Ministry of Sound alone have already picked up five of Tommy’s originals, while also keeping him busy with remixes of Tom Novy, Amand Ven Helden, Green Velvet, Sugiurum, Basto and Craig Obey. At the same time, Tommy’s own offerings have been reworked by huge international names such as Mike Monday and Steve Mac, as well as Australian icons John Course and Mr Timothy.
The first of Tommy’s original material to be released is “Slide”, a funky electro house fusion that made it onto the holy grail of Australian dance compilations, the Ministry of Sound Annual 2007. Following “Slide” will be the progressive “It’s A Swede Thing”, penned in just a few days with the help of club legend Goodwill. Already receiving radio play on BBC Radio 1, Kiss FM and Nova, and on high rotation by massive international names such as Eric Prydz, Pete Tong, Darren Emerson, Axwell and Eric Morillo, “It’s A Swede Thing” is set to be one of the bigger tracks of 2007.
As if his production talent wasn’t enough, Tommy Trash’s reputation as a DJ is rapidly growing. His sets are almost entirely made up of his own originals, remixes and edits, with Tommy rarely playing a track in its original form. His growing legion of fans devour his trademark sound, where Tommy puts his own spin on current faves and enduring classics alike. At the same time, the Trash energy is unparalleled, with signature jumping and head banging that would be more at home in a mosh pit than the DJ booths of clubs like Tank and Moulin Rouge.
