Alejandro Brittes

Acclaimed by The Boston Globe as the "leading exponent of Chamamé", Argentine composer and accordionist Alejandro Brittes explores his Chamamé heritage, an ancestral rhythm that connects us with the Earth and the Universe through music and dance, which was born from the encounter between the ritual musicality and worldview of indigenous Guarani and Baroque music in the context of Jesuit missions in a cultural microregion that encompasses Argentina, central and southern Brazil, Paraguay and Uruguay. Brittes was the first accordionist of the musical genre to play at the Library of Congress in the United States. Considered by musicologist Mark Brill, PhD in music from the University of Texas, USA, in his book Music of Latin America and the Caribbean, as one of the three main accordionists of the rhythm. He has 9 albums and a 30-year career, performing in more than 10 countries.
