DJ Thadz: Chicago’s Footwork & Ghetto House Pioneer

DJ Thadz is a true architect of Chicago’s underground sound, fusing the raw energy of ghetto house with the high-speed innovation of footwork. Born and raised in the heart of the Windy City’s legendary house scene, he began DJing and producing at the age of 19, inspired by icons like Paul Johnson, Stacy Kidd, DJ Deeon, DJ Skip, and DJ Slugo.

With a career deeply rooted in Chicago’s dance culture, DJ Thadz made his mark by releasing several albums on the iconic Dance Mania label, a powerhouse that helped define the gritty, bass-heavy sound of ghetto house. But his impact doesn’t stop there—his label, Clownhouse Muzik, played a pivotal role in launching the careers of the late, great DJ Rashad and DJ Spinn, giving them their first album releases and helping shape the evolution of footwork music.

Thadz has collaborated with a long list of Chicago legends, including Traxman, RP Boo, DJ Clent, DJ Solo, and many more, cementing his reputation as a cornerstone of the city’s ever-evolving sound. With his relentless beats and unmistakable energy, he continues to push the boundaries of the culture, keeping the pulse of Chicago’s dance floors alive.

Whether behind the decks or in the studio, DJ Thadz isn’t just making music—he’s keeping the legacy of Chicago footwork and ghetto house thriving for the next generation.
