Aquaserge s’est formé en 2005 autour de musiciens désireux d’explorer les profondeurs abyssales du rock : kraut, noise, progressif, free,… et d’exploser le « format chanson », dans l’esprit « fin 60’s », à la manière des: Wyatt, Gainsbourg, Coltrane, Zappa, Hendrix, Beach Boys,… Leur musique est composée collectivement en studio et raconte, d’opus en opus, l’étrange mythologie du capitaine Serge errant dans les abysses à bord de son sous-marin cigare. Ils apparaissent pour la première fois en concert en juin 2008 en ouverture de Bertrand Burgalat. Les membres du groupe sortent régulièrement de leur habitacle pour collaborer avec Makoto Kawabata et Acid Mothers Temple, Kinski, Monade, Forever Pavot, Moodoïd… et jouer sur scène avec Stereolab, Laetitia Sadier, April March, Bertrand Burgalat, Hyperclean, Tahiti80, Tame Impala, Melody's Echo Chamber, Damo Susuki (Can), Dorian Pimpernel, Jef Barbara… Ils se sont produits au Klangbad Festival (Faust studio), aux siestes électroniques à Toulouse avec Kawabata Makoto et Keiji Haino, aux côtés de Gong, Art Bears.. pour le 3ème édition du Rock In Opposition…, aux USA et en Europe lors de tournées mémorables. The group was formed around musicians who want to explore certain unknown, or little known pockets of rock. A mixture of deep influences was thus established ; navigating knowingly between kraut giants such as Neu ! and Faust, anglo-saxon pop, Soft Machine, Zappa… Adepts of the first draft and experimentations, they push the already elastic boundaries of the classic pop/rock formation (guitar, bass, keyboards, drums) just that little bit further each time. Aquaserge sings an epic tale. A strange, underwater mythology is woven from one opus to the next — that of the charming Serge, survivor and savant, who wanders in the abyss aboard his cigar-shaped submarine. The group gave its first gigs in June 2008, notably as openers for Bertrand Burgalat and April March.
