A propos de Cassandra Kubinski
Lauded for her songwriting and performing chops by the likes of Billy Joel and Livingston Taylor, theatrical folk pop singer-songwriter Cassandra Kubinski serves up her piano-driven tales of love and ambition with a combo of whimsical, poignant, and snarky. From living rooms to Barclays Center, her powerful, soulful voice calls us to trust, love, and let go.
Cassandra's roots are in suburban Connecticut with her parents and two sisters, listening to Billy Joel and musical theatre. Early on, she was putting on circuses, Halloween plays, and concerts for the neighborhood, and later graduated valedictorian of her high school, heading to Florida State University for a BA in Theatre. Graduating in 2 years, she moved to NYC to pursue singer/songwriter stardom.
She began performing in Drama Desk-nominated musicals and NYC clubs. Piano man Billy Joel offered a personal invitation to his concert after he found her song “Cradle the Moon” on Myspace. Since those early days, the stories she has collected found their way into her melodic, fiery, sensual, dramatic compositions, which in turn found their way onto seven albums, multiple singles, TV shows like “Dance Moms” (13 songs and counting), NBC promos, a Sundance film (DARE), radio and advertisements.
And whether she’s rocking a piano and mic onstage, singing or voicing commercials (Capitol One, Kohls, Homegoods, Maybelline, Snickers) or writing for other pop acts, those who know her expect her signature wit, humor and romance no matter which endeavor she’s taking on.
Cassandra worked with John Rzeznik of the Goo Goo Dolls and Mary Ramsey of 10,000 Maniacs to release "Not So Different", a song for Autism benefitting the Institute for Autism Research. You can find the song on itunes and Google Play listed under "Not So Different" by Ladies First feat. John Rzeznik. All proceeds go to Autism programs.
Other highlights include "You Get Me" from album DREAMS, which has helped raise over $25,000 for pet rescue groups; and her two Billboard charting albums Onward and Holiday Magic. She also served as the first female bandleader and composer for The Never Settle Show, produced by Al Roker Media and hosted by Mario Armstrong.
