Mario Enrique Rivera Godines, Mayito (voz).
Nacido el 19 de enero de 1966 en Pinar del Río, Cuba, es uno de los cinco cantantes más famosos de la escena caribeña. Durante muchos años fue la voz del legendario grupo salsero Los Van Van, de Cuba. Sus innumerables giras por Latinoamérica, Estados Unidos, Canadá, Japón, China, la antigua Unión Soviética y casi todos los países europeos lo han convertido en uno de los artistas cubanos más conocidos del mundo. Mayito Rivera también ha compartido escenario con otros grupos y estrellas de la música del Caribe, como Pío Leyva, Osdalgia, Tirso Duarte, Alexander Abreu & Habana D’Primera, Waldo Mendoza, El Zorro, Haila Mompié, José Luis Barba, Telmary, Dos Four, Timbalive y muchas más. En la película Hijos de Cuba (Buena Vista Next Generation), producida por Wim Wenders, desempeña uno de los papeles protagonistas. A lo largo de su carrera musical ha sido galardonado por su extraordinaria voz con numerosos premios internacionales. Entre ellos destacan, sobre todo, el Grammy que recibió junto con Los Van Van, así como la nominación al Grammy en la categoría Best Salsa Album of the Year por su álbum Negrito Bailador (Timba Records 2006), en el que actúa como solista. Mayito ranks among the five most famous singers of the present-day Latin music scene. For many years he was the front man of the legendary Cuban salsa band Juan Formell y Los Van Van. Countless tours through Latin America, the United States, Canada, Japan, China, the former Soviet Union, and nearly all of Europe have put him among the best-known Cuban voices and faces today. But Mayito has also shared the stage with many other stars including Pío Leyva, Osdalgia, Tirso Duarte, Alexander Abreu & Habana D’Primera, Waldo Mendoza, El Zorro, Haila Mompié, José Luis Barba, Telmary, Dos Four, and Timbalive, to mention only a few.
He played one of the main roles in Wim Wenders’ film production “Sons of Cuba” (Buena Vista Next Generation). During the course of his career he has received multiple national and international awards for his outstanding vocals. They include a Grammy together with Los Van Van as well as a Grammy nomination in the category “Best Salsa Album of the Year” for his solo album “Negrito Bailador” (Timba Records 2006). Since the beginning of 2012 he has been a permanent member of Soneros de Verdad, whose founder and leader, Luis Frank Arias, has been a good friend of his for decades.

Mayito zählt zu den 5 namhaftesten Sängern der Latinmusikszene. Viele Jahre war er der Frontmann der Salsalegende “Los Van Van” aus Kuba. Unzählige Tourneen durch Lateinamerika, die USA, Kanada, Japan, China, die ehemalige Sowjetunion und fast alle europäischen Länder machten ihn zu einer der bekanntesten Stimmen und Gesichter, die man heute aus Kuba kennt. Mayito stand aber auch mit vielen weiteren Stars der Latinmusikszene auf der Bühne, darunter Pío Leyva, Osdalgia, Tirso Duarte, Alexander Abreu y Habana d’Primera, Waldo Mendoza, El Zorro, Haila Mompié, José Luis Barba, Telmary, Dos Four, Timbalive und viele mehr.
In Wim Wenders Filmproduktion „Sons of Cuba“ (Buena Vista Next Generation) spielte er eine der Hauptrollen. Im Laufe seiner Kariere wurde er mehrfach für seine herausragende Stimme ausgezeichnet und gewann diverse internationale Preise.
