A propos de King Fish Crow

Minneapolis, Minnesota’s King Fish Crow is a musical phoenix, born of ideas, songs and instruments from past projects. An elemental band, as their name suggests, they are a passage through land, water and air galvanized by the burning fire of being alive. They create a passionate blend of indie folk fusion. It’s like the basic elements of alchemy and the space that ties them together. They are led by the lyric driven songwriting of J.P. Murphy and the lush vocals of his sister Liz. The brother/sister harmonies create a beautiful tension, a war between sandpaper and silk, where everybody wins. In May 2014, the band released their debut album, The Mercy Tree, a complete album, not devoid of singles but something that should be listened to in its entirety. “It’s like a journey you’re taking,” says Drew Brown, who plays saxophone. “It takes you somewhere. That’s why I joined the band. It’s about the passion.” Corey B. Toth (Synths/Omnichord) and James Annala (Melodica/Percussion) round out an eclectic group of musicians that meld diverse influences together into a unique and organic sound; both innovative and familiar at the same time. Relying on their strong narrative presence and simple harmonies, their focus is as much about the story and the storytellers as it is about the melody and the beat. Multi layered and intrinsic their sound brings to mind images of being in a pristine forest, discovering those minute, fascinating details you might have missed had you not taken a moment to look. “I am not a therapist. I am not a spiritual leader. These elements are in the art: it is therapeutic, spiritual, social and political – everything. It has many layers. But art has to have many layers. If it doesn’t then forget it.” – Marina Abramovic "We're gonna become ragtag bandits, start living on the move."
