A propos de Bill Carter and the Blame Fan Page
Bill Carter has been a pillar of the Austin music scene for nearly three decades, helping shape the city's rich musical history along with songwriting partner Ruth Ellsworth. Over two hundred artists have found gold in the songwriting genius of this Texas troubadour, including Stevie Ray Vaughan, The Fabulous Thunderbirds, Robert Palmer, the Counting Crows, Storyville, Omar and The Howlers, The Brian Setzer Orchestra, Ruth Brown, John Anderson, and Waylon Jennings, just to name a few. His band Bill Carter and the Blame has hosted some of the world's greatest musicians, including guitarists Charlie Sexton and Denny Freeman (Bob Dylan's band), Chris Layton (SRV Double Trouble), Dony Wynn (Robert Palmer), Mike Thompson (The Eagles), musician/actor Johnny Depp, Billy Gibbons of ZZ Top, Brian Setzer of the Stray Cats, and many others. Carter is also a founding member of the famed Hollywood band "P" with Gibby Haynes of the Butthole Surfers, Johnny Depp, and Sal Jenco. They released the eponymous album P in 1995 on Capitol Records, featuring Steve Jones from the Sex Pistols, Flea, and Ruth Ellsworth. Carter and Ellsworth received the BMI "Million Airs" Award for over two million airplays of their Stevie Ray Vaughan mega hit "Crossfire." In March of 2000, the track won the Decade Award for Best Song at the Austin Music Awards. In August 2010, Carter participated in the Voices for Justice Concert and Rally in Little Rock, AR, in support of the West Memphis Three. Carter performed "Anything Made Of Paper," an original song that he and Ellsworth wrote specifically for Damien Echols and wife Lorri Davis. Carter also joined Patti Smith for "People Have The Power" during the show's finale, along with Eddie Vedder, Natalie Maines, Ben Harper, and Johnny Depp. "Anything Made of Paper" is featured in the documentary film, West of Memphis. That track and Carter's cover of Ozzy Osbourne's "Road To Nowhere" are included on theWest of Memphis soundtrack release. In August of 2012, PBS-Austin released an hour-long documentary on Bill Carter and The Blame as part of the station's Arts In Context series. This live show/tribute featured interviews and testimonials with Billy Gibbons of ZZ Top, Charlie Sexton, Jimmie Vaughan, and Johnny Depp. March of 2013 saw Carter and Ellsworth inducted into the Austin Music Hall of Fame. Bill's latest project is entitled Unknown. "Simply put, no one writes songs like this man." Stu Gilbert - MVRemix
