Above The Fold is a rock and roll trio out of New York City, combining the Southern blues infused guitar style of frontman Sean Gibson with the funky metropolitan grooves of Mike Lidh (drums). Featuring crisp, catchy songwriting, and drawing on a wide range of influences, Above The Fold creates a diverse sound ranging from three chord bluesy ballads (Depression ’32) to heavy, progressive jams (Comes Around). A transient youth growing up in New York City, then on to Florida and Oklahoma, Sean Gibson found regional success with his band, Friar’s Point, based in Weatherford, OK. Friar’s Point was well known on the local scene and enjoyed steady airplay on local rock radio stations 94.7, the “Buzz,” and the 99.3 the “Zoo.” After moving back to New York City, Sean got together with Mike Lidh, as Above The Fold, they have become part of New York City’s vibrant independent rock scene. Prior to Above The Fold, Mike was an accomplished drummer and multi-instrumentalist in his own right, having played everything from rock to marching band in Colorado Springs and Denver, Colorado, and engineered and produced (and played all the instruments on) his own LP. Live, Above The Fold does not disappoint. Well known for their ability to go off the record, Above The Fold can take their fans on a trip through atmospheric jams that go way out into space, then come crashing down to Earth with blistering guitar solos and heavy riffs. Their enthusiasm radiates from the stage and envelopes their audience, as evidenced by the hooting and hollering that permeates the background of their live recordings.
