A propos de Lucy Rose

Lucy Rose has gradually become one of the most respected and influential of the new generation of UK artists. Since moving from her home in Warwickshire at the start of the decade she has followed her own path through the indie and acoustic scenes. In 2011 her trio of self-released singles - ‘Middle Of The Bed’, ‘Scar’ and ‘Redface’ - invented their own world of uniquely emotive post-acoustic pop. Relentlessly touring through 2012 and 2103 she connected with a hugely cross sectioned audience and manned the merch stall every night. As a friend and fan of the band she toured with Bombay Bicycle Club and sang on their records. Her debut album for Columbia ‘Like I Used To’ was recorded in the living room of her parents house and produced by Charlie Hugall. It beautifully mined her growing up years and expanded on her girl-with-acoustic guitar roots.Videos for her 2012/13 singles - ‘Lines’, ‘Bikes’ and ‘Shiver’ - were in turn inventive, playful and moving and the songs made their own space on UK radio playlists. Finding herself regularly asked to sing on other people’s tracks she said no to nearly everyone, only agreeing to contribute vocals on tracks by Ghostpoet, The Manic Street Preachers (and the Bombays). Through 2013 she worked on her second album, pushing her musical boundaries and forging a close bond with producer Rich Cooper. In the summer she took time out from writing and recording to support Neil Young in Hyde Park and play the second stage at Glastonbury Festival. The Independent review of her Glastonbury show singled her out as one of the festival’s rising stars, labelling her “the stand out female vocalist of the weekend.” The widescreen adventure of her second album, ‘Work It Out’, released in the summer of 2015, took her into the top 10 of the charts, and all three singles ‘Our Eyes’, ‘Like An Arrow’ and ‘Till The End’ took up residence on UK radio. 2016 saw one more single taken from the album, the beautiful ballad ‘Nebraska’ with a remarkable video featuring legendary UK actor Danny Dyer. After continual requests for shows from fans in South America, Lucy set out on a two month tour of the continent, playing free shows in venues organized by her fans. Her trip took in off the beaten track towns in Ecuador, Peru , Chile, Argentina, Uruguay, Paraguay, Brazil and Mexico. A documentary of her travels looking for deeper reasons behind her life as a musician is currently being worked on and Lucy will be busy through the rest of 2016, playing UK summer festivals and solo shows in Europe in September, followed by Istanbul, Singapore and Hong Kong in the run up to Christmas.
