It was the 1st time I finally got to see & enjoy Mike Kinsella LIVE! I had been waiting a long time to catch an Owen show! Years!... Plus I got to say hello / talk with him as well.. Great night and great sounding Venue. And his cousin Nate Kinsella, who is now a permanent member (bassist) of American Football was the opener on the bill as solo artist Birthmark. The next day, those two played a show together, along with the other members of American Football to a sold out Seattle crowd! Which, unfortunately I did not get to attend but, I did get to see them practice /play a few songs in public (free) before the show at the Folsom Clothing Co. store in the Sodo district. I have my pair of tickets! Hope you have your tix already for American Football show @ showbox sodo in May! On tour of the band's 3rd full length album 2019

Owen is the solo project of Chicago's Mike Kinsella. As a departure from over a decade of work playing in a variety of bands – Cap'n Jazz, American Football, Owls and Their / They're / There to name a few – Owen became Kinsella's way of finally exercising complete creative control over all aspects of a project, including songwriting, recording, and overall artistic direction.

Owen's musical output as evolved from sparse acoustic offerings to lush, string-filled arrangements. Kinsella often exposes family relationships and personal experiences with lyrics that are at times clever, witty, raw, and biting.
