A propos de Dollhouse

In 2003 Dollhouse met Michael Davis of the MC5 in London and handed him a copy of their first single. Only days later he sent an e-mail with a wish to produce a full length album, saying “this is what the MC5 wanted to sound like and i would love to work with you guys!”.
Overwhelmed by the words of Michael Davis Dollhouse packed their bags and flew to Los Angeles in December 2003 to record what would become their debut album, “The rock and soul circus”, for the Dim Mak label in L.A.. They also played their very first non-European shows there, with Michael Davis stepping up on the stage to join the band on some MC5-songs.
When released in September 2004, the album was described in rock and roll magazines across Europe and the US as an exceptional debut from what feels like the hottest band from Sweden in years, like the sound of revolution knocking on your door armed with Wah-Wah pedals, hardhitting soul and just the right amount of psychedelia to send even the most blockheaded non-believer into orbit.

September 2004 did not only see the release of Dollhouse’s debut album, but this was also the same month they got to tour as warm-ups for DKT/MC5.
Even before legends like the Detroit bad-asses, Dollhouse kept their cool and did a set ofping Sweden 2000-2001,
adrenaline-filled appearances and quickly got the crowd to dance to the Dollhouse beat, written about in the press as a promising opening act full of pure dynamite.
Filling in for Fred “Sonic” Smith, Nick Royale of The Hellacopters quickly fell for the raw, unpolished, and energetic sound of Dollhouse and offered himself to produce the follow-up to “The rock and soul circus”. The guys, knowing that this was a fan of exactly the same kind of music they themselves listen to, did not hesitate to take up his offer and the work began to find a studio and a good time for them all to record. Then they finally entered AceTone Studio in Södermalm, Stockholm, to record their second album, suitably titled “The Royal Rendezvous”(2006).
