Fronted by the charismatic lead singer Ashton Baker whose raspy vocals carry tales of childhood, love, and the highs and lows of teenage life, his lyrical prowess opens a window to the soul creating anthems for a generation yearning for authenticity and raw emotion. Ashton’s stage presence is nothing short of mesmerising; his mastery of the guitar adds depth and emotion to every performance. Fintan Killroy holds down the low end as the bass guitarist and also lends his backing vocals to Mezcal’s lyrical arrangements. Completing the ensemble is Archie Lovatt, the band’s dynamic drummer and backing vocalist whose impeccable sense of rhythm adds an electrifying energy to Mezcal’s live performances.
With a rapidly growing fan base and discography, Mezcal is sure to be earning their place in the alternative rock industry. Off the back of their debut EP, Mezcal has recently headlined one of their biggest shows to date at Oporto bar in Leeds selling over 100 tickets to fans engulfing the venue with their musical genius and catching the attention of blog writer Tiggerligger on the local music blog ‘Old Man Blues’. He writes ‘I kind of went in cold with no real thought about who the band were and what they are about. Some bands comprise of deeper layers, and Mezcal is one.’
