Junior Mesa

"A self-taught singer and multi-instrumentalist, the Bakersfield-born student of Prince, D’Angelo, and MJ has leapfrogged past epilepsy and label breakups to amass a cult following primed to multiply. His year-long run of improvisational singles instantly commit to memory, reckoning with heartbreak amidst forest fires, and on “the cops are coming,” dancing under hyper-surveillance.

At a time when even the most joyous moments often come with an ambient mourning, Junior Mesa’s jagged, silver-screen-ready records offer a reprieve for the shadowboxers, pick-me-up ecstasy for the down and out, alongside constant reminders of the vibrant worlds inside the shiest exteriors. Tune in and enjoy the ascent.” - Alex Siber
