Spectacular show - took my breath away! Sadly, a very rude guy publicly "chastised" REK for his story telling, which, in the view of most, is very much part of his charm and creates the backdrop for his music. REK seemingly felt the "need" to "apologize" for his chatting and it about broke my heart - that gentleman who did the yelling was clearly no gentleman. Despite all that, this was one of THE FINEST shows I've ever seen! REK performed virtually all of his top hits and played for almost 2 hours. We could not have been more excited and thrilled to see a legendary performer in an intimate, charming setting with a great sound system and bar. Thank you REK and Elkton Music Hall.

I've seen REK multiple times over the years but never solo or in a smaller bar environment, so that by itself made the show even more special. I had also never seen him play the electric guitar, so that was new. Bottom line: it was a great evening of great music.
REK seemed relaxed as he played both favorites and deep cuts and told stories about the songs or what was going on in his life when he wrote them. To me, the highlight of the evening was near the end when he talked about his long friendship with Todd Snider and then played one of Todd's best songs "Play Me a Train Song."
The opening act was Race Ricketts who was very good and worth checking out on his own.

It was a different REK experience for me. Rather than start the show with Feeling Good Again and getting the crowd cranked up, this show started with the band playing songs from his album, Gravitational Forces. Many in the crowd were a bit impatient and were looking to hear his usual live show standards. Some started shouting requests. He politely responded “We’ll get there…” As one who has listened too all of his music, I enjoyed sitting back and enjoying him revisit this album. The second half of the show brought all of the good stuff we all want to hear. No one left disappointed. But, this is a more mature show as we are all getting older. Highly recommended for the REK enthusiasts!
