SASAMI - at the heart of it - is a fantastic songwriter and performer. She’s made three solo albums, and each one has a completely different vibe - indie rock, metal, pop… and her live shows supporting each album have been faithful to their production and feeling. Saturday’s show at the brand-new and phenomenal Sid The Cat Auditorium in South Pasadena was a remarkable and wonderful outlier. For this mini tour, SASAMI pulled together a small acoustic ensemble - violin, cello, saxophone, and Sasami Ashworth herself on guitar and french horn to revisit some of her favorite songs from her catalog in quieter but no less emotional arrangements.
If you’re reading this because you missed the show or if you’re wondering if SASAMI is worth seeing, then (I’ll repeat) it was great, and Sasami always brings it all.
