A propos de I Am Apollo
I Am Apollo sound like Tom Petty and Stevie Nicks had some kind of wonderful, melancholy musical love child. From the humble beginnings in a small garage in Cronulla, the band has managed to create beautifully layered indie rock that feels nostalgic, like a sunset surf or driving home from summer holidays.
Their sound combines their love of analogue recording gear, 70's pop rock and the 90’s rock that they grew up with. Jeremy and George started I Am Apollo with a 4-track recorder and made their first EP, which received immediate love from Community radio nationwide.
The band's coming of age album ‘Rave On’ was incubated in and around Sydney’s dive bars. What has set them apart and put them on the main stage of festivals such as Peats Ridge, Endless Summer and Sounds of the Suburbs, has been their attitude and love of writing and recording great songs and producing a sound that has grown into its own.
With songs that tear straight from the heart, Jeremy's untrained and totally 'throw it all in' approach to singing is without comparison, while George’s uncompromising production has set I Am Apollo apart and made them a band that will continue to bring us music that is deeper than a passing scene, for years to come - It's good to hear a song sound as real as the story itself.
Northern Lights is the first slice of music from a creative burst of writing and recording. Northern Lights' feel is ethereal and emotive whilst making you wonder about the potential big picture of everything.
If you walk the back streets of Darlinghurst, behind one of those closed doors is an analogue studio and that’s where I Am Apollo are bunked down finishing off their new EP.
